There seem to be a lot of people out there that like to go out and pick one of those model kits that they like and simply build it and stick it on their shelf but are there many people out there that have all kinds of parts and build them to their liking? This is what is known as custom model building and a lot of people do it.

Although model kits are not used in movies as much as they used to be, thanks to things like CGI they are still used in things like explosions as they cost a lot less than using CGI technology. It would certainly seem that movies have relied on models for a very long period of time and truth be told they still do today.
Even if the movie isn’t actually using a model for the main explosions they will still test the entire scene by building scale models of the thing and blowing them up. (more…)
Dirty Dancing
This 1987 romantic film is one of the most famous dancing movies of all time and although it had such a low budget it has gone on to make a massive $214 million worldwide as of 2009. It was actually the first movie ever to sell over a million copies on video and the finale has been described as the most goosebump-inducing dance scene in movie history.
